Every teacher. Every classroom. Every child. We are a national for-purpose group working to build a high-equity, high-excellence education system in Australia – where every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
The challenge
Australia’s educational outcomes are declining, and the gap between advantaged and disadvantaged students persists. Teaching quality matters most for learning, yet many teachers – particularly in disadvantaged schools - lack the evidence-based curriculum and supports they need.
Our solution
We built what’s missing: when curriculum, instruction, and assessment work in concert, they deepen students’ learning – especially for those who need it most. We partner with schools and teachers to strengthen all three: what is taught (curriculum), how it is taught (instruction), and how we know it’s working and can plan what comes next (assessment). Our approach honours the complex, intellectual work of teaching.
ITG grew out of Ochre Education, founded in 2021 to make evidence-based, high-quality curriculum freely available to every Australian teacher. The reach, trust and impact built through that work – now spanning 95% of Australian schools – set the foundation for our next evolution: bringing curriculum, instruction and assessment together.
Not-for-Profit Ochre Education wholly owns Teach Well and Impact Assessment. Revenue from all three organisations is reinvested into creating, maintaining and improving our free core resources. Our core curriculum resources will remain free, forever.
How you know it's working, and can plan next steps in learning
An assessment platform providing Australian schools with access to standardised, curriculum-aligned end-of-unit and end-of-semester assessments – in paper or digital formats – to benchmark progress and plan next steps in learning. Helping teachers to identify where students are, what they need, and which resources would be most useful to support learning progress.
These three work together. Schools and school systems can engage across all three to build a coordinated, evidence-based approach.

Our values
Driven by our shared mission – teachers at the centre
We believe in the impact of our work to drive educational equity. By listening to teachers and solving for their needs, we build supports, tools and resources that make a real difference in their day-to-day lives.
Commitment to evidence-informed, high-quality supports
We produce high-quality supports and resources, drawing on research evidence and data to guide our decisions. We continuously refine our work through evaluation, iteration and collaboration with teachers.
Build great things together
While we each bring our unique strengths as individual organisations, we collaborate intentionally, recognising that our combined efforts create the greatest impact. We work shoulder-to-shoulder with schools and schooling systems each step of the way to support them to continuously improve their practices.
Bias to action
We act with urgency, because every moment in a student’s learning counts. We set ambitious goals and don't wait for perfect conditions. We act with intent, work through complexity, and focus on building solutions.
Focus on ‘continuously learning in the open’
We rigorously track and monitor our impact and share our work with the field to drive collective progress. We learn from feedback, and make adjustments to our supports and work based on what is working, when and where.
